Alina Stefanescu, program director

Alina Stefanescu was born in Romania and lives in Alabama. Her poems, essays, and stories are recent or forthcoming in DIAGRAM, New South, Mantis, VOLT, Cloudbank, Prairie Schooner, NELLE, and others. She serves as Poetry Editor of Pidgeonholes, Publicity Chair of AWC, and President of the Alabama State Poetry Society.

Her first poetry chapbook, Objects in Vases (Anchor & Plume Press, 2016) won the ASPS Poetry Book of the Year Award. Her poetry collection, Stories to Read Aloud to Your Fetus (Finishing Line Press, 2017) included Pushcart-nominated poems. Her debut fiction collection,'Every Mask I Tried On, won the Brighthorse Books Prize and was published in May 2018. She has been nominated for multiple Pushcarts and Best of the Net awards.

She won the 2015 Ryan R. Gibbs Award For Flash Fiction from New Delta Review, an Honorable Mention in 2015 Helen Short Story Contest, She has been a finalist for 2015 Black Warrior Review Poetry Contest, 2015 Fiction Southeast Editor's Prize , 2015 Robert Dana Poetry Award, 2016 Very Short Fiction Story Contest (Glimmer Train), and various others.
